Nicole Benson

Director

Nicole is the Founder and Director of Emerge Learning and is passionate about empowering people to build confidence, independence and meaningful lives through person-centred support.

Nicole believes in working collaboratively with participants, families and other professionals to create personalised supports that build confidence, celebrate strengths and help each person achieve what is important to them.

Experience

With a background in Early Childhood Education and over 20 years of experience working with children and families, Nicole brings a nurturing, strengths-based approach to every participant she supports. She has over eight years of experience supporting NDIS participants with a wide range of goals and abilities. Her experience includes early intervention, capacity building, routine-based supports and developing practical life skills that promote long-term independence.

Kirby Starr- Thomas

Support Worker

Kirby is an experienced disability support worker with 8 years in the disability sector, providing person‑centred, strengths‑based support across a wide range of participant needs. Kirby’s frontline experience includes daily living support, social and community access, therapy support, travel training, and work access assistance.

Experience

Kirby also brings experience as a Level 1 and Level 2 Support Coordinator, assisting NDIS participants to understand their plans, build capacity, connect with suitable providers, and achieve personal goals through organised, collaborative, and outcomes‑focused coordination.

Kirby has strong experience supporting participants through NDIS internal reviews, plan reassessments, and tribunal matters, including gathering evidence, preparing functional impact statements, coordinating reports from allied health professionals, and supporting participants to clearly articulate their needs. This experience ensures participants feel informed, supported, and confident throughout the review or appeal process.

Rocharne Currie

Support Worker

Rocharne is passionate about working with people and supporting them to build confidence, independence and meaningful connections. She is patient, easy-going and dependable, and takes the time to understand each person’s unique needs, goals and preferences.

Rocharne believes in providing person-centred support that empowers participants to make their own choices, celebrate their strengths, and achieve what’s important to them. Whether it’s assisting with daily living, building life skills, accessing the community or providing companionship, her goal is to create a positive, encouraging environment where people feel valued, respected and confident.

Experience

Rocharne has over four years of experience supporting individuals with a wide range of needs and abilities. She currently works part-time as a Teacher Aide at a Special School in Brisbane.

Throughout her career, Rocharne has worked with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (both verbal and non-verbal), Down syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, ADHD, and mental health conditions including anxiety and depression. She understands that every person is unique and prides herself on providing patient, compassionate and individualised support that respects each participant’s goals, preferences and strengths.

Audrie Wan

Support Worker

Audrie completed her Bachelor of Behavioural Science in 2024 and is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Psychology (Advanced). Her experience includes a strong background in aged care, childcare and teaching, allowing her to confidently support people of diverse ages, abilities and backgrounds.

Audrie is passionate about empowering people to build independence and achieve their goals. She is compassionate, patient and dependable, with a priority of creating a safe, supportive and collaborative environment where participants feel respected, comfortable and encouraged to progress at their own pace while having fun along the way.

Experience

Her experience spans aged care, childcare, teaching and disability support. Through her volunteer and professional roles, Audrie has developed strong communication, patience, creativity and problem-solving skills while supporting people of diverse ages, abilities and backgrounds. She is passionate about building meaningful relationships and empowering participants to develop independence, achieve their goals and reach their full potential in a supportive and person-centred environment.

Outside of support work, Audrie enjoys staying active through swimming and hiking, spending time with friends and family, drawing and travelling.
